Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate

GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is used for euphoric, sedative, and anabolic (body building) effects. It is sometimes called "liquid ecstasy". It is readily available and sold as a clear liquid in bottles. It can be easily "slipped" into beverages and has often been used as a "date rape" drug. The effects are similar to alcohol, disinhibition, sedation, desire to sleep, rambling incoherent speech, giddiness, silliness, difficulty thinking, slurred speech, passing out, and in some cases results in death.

There have been numerous overdoses on GHB because it is not easily known how much to take or how potent a dose is. Passing out on GHB is extremely dangerous and medical attention is absolutely necessary.

GHB is readily manufactured from floor cleaning products, nail polish, and super glue removers. Manufacturers justify marketing of GHB as healthy due to the fact that the human body produces trace amounts. It is often sold as a vitamin supplement or an amino acid. Lab-created GHB, however, is not safe for consumption.
